Dr. Jon J. Eckhardt

Dr. Jon Eckhardt is originally from Newark, Ohio. He earned his Bachelor of Arts from Ohio Wesleyan University, graduating with a double major in Pre-Professional Zoology and Psychology and a minor in Chemistry. Dr. Eckhardt went on to attend Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine in Cleveland, where he received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree. During his time at CWRU, he was recognized with multiple awards, including honors for research achievement and the Dean’s Award for Academic Excellence. He remained at CWRU to complete a residency in Orthodontics, earning a Master of Science in Dentistry and a Certificate in Orthodontics.

Following the completion of his specialty training, Dr. Eckhardt relocated to Bryan, where he began practicing with Drs. George Brown, Craig Herman, and David Behringer—an orthodontic practice that would eventually become Smiles of Ohio. Dr. Eckhardt is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Association of Orthodontists, the Great Lakes Association of Orthodontists, the Ohio Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, the Ohio Dental Association, and the Toledo Dental Society.

Beyond his clinical work, Dr. Eckhardt and his wife, Dr. Laura Eckhardt, have been deeply involved in the local community. Together, they have served on various boards, led fundraising initiatives, and supported arts and athletic programs in the Bryan, Defiance, Wauseon, and surrounding school districts. Dr. Laura Eckhardt holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and serves as a Consulting Clinical Psychologist for Millcreek-West Unity Schools. The Eckhardts reside in Coldwater, Michigan. They have a son, Max. Outside of his professional commitments, Dr. Eckhardt enjoys wakeboarding, fishing, snow skiing, and spending quality time with his family and neighbors.
